Exploring attitudes towards social media influencers and their perceived impact on body image

Researcher Ciara Mahon of Dublin City University is currently carrying out a study titled ‘Exploring attitudes towards social media influencers and their perceived impact on body image’

Study aims:

  • To explore young adults’ attitudes towards social media influencers and their perceived impact on body image
  • To learn more about what motivates people to follow appearance-focused social media influencer accounts and body-related ‘advice’ they provide.

The researchers are recruiting young adults aged between 18-25 years. Participation involves one 30 minute interview, either on-site at DCU Glasnevin Campus or online, depending on participants’ convenience .
