Bodywhys launch new Eating Disorders Resource for Parents

Bodywhys – the Eating Disorders Association of Ireland – today launched a booklet offering information and support to the parents of those affected by eating disorders.

The booklet – “Eating Disorders – A Resource for Parents” – gives a broad range of information about identifying and understanding eating disorders, as well as answering some of the most frequently asked questions parents may have.

Bodywhys have developed the resource in response to ongoing support requests from parents across the country.

Jacinta Hastings, CEO of Bodywhys, said, “Parents can often feel scared and confused when their child is having an issue with an eating disorder. The path towards recovery can be a struggle for the whole family, and there is a real need for understanding at this time.

“Bodywhys believe that the most important thing a parent can do is to inform themselves about eating disorders so that they are better equipped to support their child.

“With this new resource, we hope to assist parents in achieving that goal, while at the same time encouraging them to seek support for themselves.”

Eating Disorders – A Resource for Parents will be formally launched by Miriam O’Callaghan tonight, October 22nd, at the Oisín Gallery, Westland Row at 6:00pm.

Copies of the booklet are available from the Bodywhys head office by calling 01 2834963 or emailing info@bodywhys.ie
