Researcher, Anne Conneely, of IICP College is currently carrying out a study titled ‘Mood and Food: Exploring Irish and UK Psychotherapists’ Awareness and Integration of Nutrition in the Therapy Room‘
The study aims to examine how psychotherapists in Ireland understand and integrate nutrition within their clinical practice, particularly when working with clients experiencing mood-related difficulties such as anxiety and depression.
The research is focused solely on gathering the views of pre-accredited and accredited counsellors and psychotherapists. The researchers would value the perspectives of therapists working with people affected by eating disorders, as their insights are particularly important when considering ethical and boundary-related aspects of discussing nutrition in therapy.
The research consists of two components:
- A short quantitative survey (5–10 minutes), closing 28 February. Access the survey here: Food & Mood Survey
- A qualitative focus group taking place between late February and mid-March
The study has received ethical approval from IICP Research & Ethics Committee
