Bodywhys was founded in 1995 by concerned people who identified a gap in support services for people affected by eating disorders. They all worked in a voluntary capacity to offer helplineand information service. There have been huge developments in terms of support services, information provision as well as in advocacy and lobbying.
Along with services development we re-organised the organisation's structures in 2004 to include a Board of Directors, a Chief Executive, six staff and a wider team of nearly 100 volunteers providing direct support services. Support is currently available via our helpline service, support groups around the country as well as through our online support group, BodywhysConnect and email service.
None of these would be possible without the ongoing commitment of the dedicated volunteers and staff working hard to deliver these much needed services. Below is an outline of current staff along with a list of the Bodywhys Board of Directors.
Jacinta Hastings Chief Executive Officer
Harriet Parsons Services Co-ordinator
Mary Crean Administrator
Fiona Flynn Youth Development Officer
Liz Murray Projects Officer
Barry Murphy Acting Communications Officer
Would you like to donate? Bodywhys receives ongoing core funding from the Health Service Executive which goes towards covering overheads. Any additional fundraising efforts or donations go directly into service provision and information for people affected by eating disorders.
